The Conference weekend saw some incredible battles shake out throughout the country. Now, as teams make their way to each Regional site, we’re going to dive into the penultimate rankings for the 2022 cross country season.
In one of the deepest conference meets represented in the IC4A, the Big East Championship saw Villanova, Providence, and Georgetown bring in the top-3 spots. Villanova led the field with 27 points with every scoring athlete finishing in the top-10.
The Ivy League Championship also brought six of the top ranked teams in our conference. The Princeton men just edged out Harvard with both teams having very strong chances to advance to the NCAA Championship.
Among the biggest jumps this edition comes from Patriot League members Navy who jumped 6 places and Army who make their first appearance.
Also making the list for the first time is La Salle after an impressive runner-up finish in the Atlantic 10.
Taking the top spot is the Hoyas of Georgetown after their scoring line-up made up half of the top 10 athletes at the Big East. They were followed close behind by Providence with UConn and Villanova in a close team race.
Virginia managed a 3rd place finish in one of the most competitive cross country conferences in the nation. The ACC Championship also included Syracuse who finished 6th overall for the women.
In a very close race, the Ivy League Championship saw 5 teams post team scores under 100. The meet helped keep Harvard and Princeton well ranked and also introduced Columbia into our ranking and the Penn women move up three spots to number 13.
The UMass Lowell women also jumped into our ranking for the first time. Their sweep of the individual and team title in the America East puts them in a great spot as we near the end of the season.
